Property tax bills are mailed on the first day of October, each year. If property taxes are paid by October 31st, a 2% discount is applied. November 1st through November 30th, the base amount is due. The base rate is the amount in which the property is assessed, without discount and without penalty. If the taxes are paid after the 30th of November, there is a 20% penalty added starting December 1st. The property tax rates are set by the City Council. If you have questions regarding your city taxes you may contact the water office.
Utility bills are mailed on the last business day of the month. Bills are due on the 15th of each month. A 10% late fee will be added to the bill on the 15th of the month at 4:30 PM. All bills that are unpaid by the 24th of the month by 4:30 PM will get a $50 surcharge/disconnect added to their bill. If the 15th or 24th of the month falls on a weekend or holiday, you are given the next business day to pay your bill by 4:30 PM. You may pay your bill by mailing it to 103 W. Main, Earlington, KY 42410. We also have a drop box located at the side entrance of our city building.
Our city park and lake is located on Hwy. 1337 approximately 1 mile from our city center. There is a playground located at the park, bathrooms, a stage and a couple of covered pavilions with picnic tables and grills. Park is open from dawn to dusk. You may also access the lake area on Hwy. 112, both park locations have boat launching ramps. Fishing is allowed at the lake. Camping overnight is not allowed. No gas motors allowed on the lake.
Loch Mary Recreational ATV Park is located at 1865 Earlington Road. Approximately 500 acres of riding is available. It has a trail approximately 10 miles long. It is located between Hwy. 1337 and Hwy. 112 in Earlington, KY at 1865 Earlington Road. Riding hours are from dawn to dust, 7 days a week. Permits are required to ride. 1 day permits are 10.00 in office, 11.00 online. Three day consecutive permit $20.00 online 21.00. Online at www.earlingtonatvpark.com. Permits may also be purchased at Earlington City Hall at 103 W. Main in Earlington, Kentucky. ATV’s & dirt bikes are welcome.
City Ordinances states all trailers located in the city limit, owners must purchase a trailer permit. The cost for the permit are: single wide permit is $10 per year and doublewide permit is $20 per year.
Permits are good for 1 year starting July 1 and expire June 30 of the following year. A certificate is mailed back to the person and address that purchased the permit.
Earlington has an occupational license fee for city business. The cost is 50.75 per license. License Fee is good for 1 year starting July 1 and expiring June 30 of the following year. You may pick up an application at city hall or print online and mail to city hall with payment and license certificate will be mailed back to you to conduct your business in the city.
Earlington Fire Department was established in 1911 and operates 1 station, 5 apparatus, and 23 active firefighters. The apparatus fleet includes a 2001 HME/Central States rescue pumper, 2000 Freightliner/Central States rescue pumper, 2017 Kenworth/Fouts Brothers tanker, 1989 GMC/Walker Stainless tanker, and a 2018 Ford/Gerry’s Automotive brush truck. The department provides fire suppression, rescue, medical first response, and fire prevention to the City of Earlington, the Earlington Fire Protection District, Hecla, and portions of Barnsley. Earlington Fire Department has a Class 4 ISO rating for all properties covered by Earlington Fire Department within 5 road miles of the Earlington fire station regardless of whether a fire hydrant is within 1000′ or not. The department responds to an average of 120 calls annually including automatic and mutual aid to the other 14 fire departments in Hopkins County. The department operates on a $50,000 annual budget which is comprised of state and local funding including grants.

We have a walking trail close to the city center. It is located on N. Sebree Street, Parking is available next to the trail. Three laps around the trail is about a mile.
